Famous for its twenty-nine sectors of cobbled farm roads, the race zig zags its way across the region's pavé – through the brutal Arenberg Forest and across the leg-sapping Carrefour de l’Arbre – towards its crescendo in the Roubaix Velodrome.
Possibly the only sporting event where the washing facilities make up part of the legend. More like a museum than a washroom, each concrete shower cubicle bears the name of a previous winner immortalised in brass.
